Hello,
Please hoe does design section work in Ram concept? I have not really had any need to use design section because I have always been using design strips. However, from my research I found out that design section is better when you have a simple footing like combined or continuous footing. For simple footing in the snapshot below, am I supposed to draw only one design section in latitude and another in longitudinal or I have to draw multiple design sections? Also, for the footing with just two columns Ram concept is not designing any top reinforcement, I am guessing my design section is wrong. Can someone please shed more light on this?
A design section is analogous to a single cross section that is generated along a span in a design strip. Design checks are only completed where a cross section or design section is located. Likely, you will need to draw multiple design sections. You should model one a the face of the support, where the critical flexure section is expected, and at any other locations where a design check may be important, such as the middle of the span between the columns in the foundation supporting 4 columns.
Is there only positive moment in the design sections modeled for the foundation with 2 columns? If so, then that would explain why no top reinforcement is designed.
