In STAAD, is there a way to only have selfweight determined for certain plates instead of all in the model?
Also, any insight on how, if I can, can I model 8" masonry and 8" hollow core with 2" topping as walls and floors?

Selfweight command can be assigned to specific plate numbers, it is not necessary to assign it to all plates or members.Can you show us some sketch on what exactly are you trying to model?
