Would anyone detail the difference between the base plate designs as obtained by HILTI Profis and RAM Connection? They do not match up and would like to know what design differences are observed.
Thanks in advance!
What kind of connection (moment?) Did you consider all of the critical load combinations in Hilti?
Hey Seth,
Yes, I had considered all load combinations and it was a pinned connection, not a moment connection. I understanding you can export to HILTI from RAM. When RAM has the ability to perform base plate design, what is the advantage of having the option to export and design in HILTI?
If you are designing simple Gravity column base plates, use the base plate design capabilities in RAM Structural System. If you are designing Frame column base plates, I definitely recommend that you use RAM Connection for those, if you have a license. There is good, solid, seamless integration between RAM Structural System and RAM Connection. Some engineers have the full suite of Hilti programs; they may prefer to use the link to Hilti Profis for their base plate designs. You may also prefer to use Hilti Profis if you need to use Hilti post-installed anchors for the base plate.
