Is there a list of conditions under which node numbers in RAM Frame will renumber automatically? I assumed, incorrectly, that node numbers would likely stay intact if grids or columns moved but were not deleted, but that appears not to be the case. It would be helpful to understand when nodes need to be rechecked.
Pretty much any change will force a renumbering of the nodes. The program assigns nodes to the finite element model primary mesh from top to bottom and in plan from lower left to upper right and then comes back around to the internal nodes of wall and decks. If the changes made cause no change in the number or location of the frame members, then the renumbered nodes would be the same as before.
Thanks Seth. I am primarily interested in the foundation/reaction nodes. Every/any change that causes frame to go red could cause a renumbering?
Ram Frame regenerates the internal node numbers every time there is a change and you launch RAM Frame Analysis (there is an entirely separate set of nodes in Ram Concrete Analysis as well). They are also regenerated if the mesh settings are altered within RAM Frame.
