I am creating a model of a building that is adjacent to an existing building on 2 sides, and exposed to wind on the other two sides, see snip below. There is an expansion joint between the buildings, so I am modeling the new building as a standalone structure. From what I can tell, RAM exposure categories only have two options - full or none. Is there a way to indicate that the wind only occurs on two sides? And that a parapet only occurs on two sides? Otherwise, it seems as if my lateral wind forces in the model are going to be double what they actually are in real life. Thanks!
Unfortunately, there is not a way to force RAM Frame to generate wind loads with modified exposures like that. You will need to calculate the wind story forces and input them as user defined story forces. I recommend using information from program generated wind load cases that is included in the Loads & Applied Forces report to reduce the calculation effort.
