Hi,
I am using the Physical Modeller of STAAD Pro Connect Edition V22 Update 12.
I have a wall that is shaped as follows. It is thicker on 1 part than the other.
I have modeled the different thicknesses of the wall as 2 separate surfaces at the centreline of each thickness, as follows:
When the model is viewed in 3d, this means the backs of the walls line up correctly.
At the moment I have defined control/dependent relationships between the 2 surfaces every 0.5m (this is the mesh size I am using):
To ensure that the 2 surfaces are connected and forces are transferred correctly, I just want to confirm the right approach to take in this particular scenario. Would it be better to define Control/Dependent relationships between the 2 surfaces every 0.5m or would it be better to define rigid links using dummy members with a high stiffness? Or would it make no difference?
Thank-You
Ryan
This is a valid modeling approach and both methods (control/dependent) or rigid link should give the same results.
