I mI modelled a continuous bus bar with 11 spans. The support arrangement was start and end with pin supports while alternatively using fixed supports. In the beam results, pin supports also indicate a moment. I have assigned UDL to all beams in GY and GZ directions. What could be the reason for pin supports to indicate a moment value? Could someone please explain. (Results SS is attached)
You would need to assign MY and MZ member releases at the ends of the members where you would expect moment to be 0.
Thank you very much. With the assigning of member releases ta set of warnings appear in Analysis Report. ex: ''WARNING- ZERO STIFFNESS IN DIRECTION 6 AT JOINT 47 EQN.NO. 18" . The pin connection show zero moments now. Is there a solution for this warning?
This warning does not make any harm. However, if you want to avoid it, you may change the pinned t supports to fixed. The moment will not be transferred to these supports due to member releases.
Thank you very much for the support.
