A snap of the warning from STAAD is attached below. I am designing a combined footing using 318-14, I just want to ask how can i fix this warning or is this neglible? The complete warning is: "COLUMN NO 1 EXERTS AN UPLIFT FORCE ON THE FOOTING FOR CURRENT LOADCASE. THEREFORE THE PUNCHING SHEAR CHECK IS SKIPPED BY SETTING THE PUNCHING STRESS/ FORCE TO ZERO."
No. This is just a warning to alert the user that we are not checking the punching shear for uplift cases.
do you know how can I fix it without removing the said load cases? Thank you
Loads in load cases 9 and 10 create an uplift in the foundation, that's why this warning is reported.
This are the load cases I used for the footing design, Attached is also the file for my foundation design. drive.google.com/.../view
As the error says, there is an uplift for a certain column for some load case, that's why the punching shear check is not performed. Make sure that you are performing the design for the load combinations only, but not for primary load cases to avoid the uplift.
