Mat Foundation in Concept from Ram Structural System model - lateral forces

I have a building modeled in Ram Structural System. A Dynamic analysis for Seismic forces has been run via the Ram Frame module inside Ram SS. I am now trying to design the Mat Foundation via Ram Concept by using the Ram Concept button inside Ram SS. I can see that all of the Dead and Live loads have been transferred into Ram Concept. However, I cannot see any evidence that Lateral loads have been transferred to Ram Concept. There are concrete shear walls that have some pretty high over-turning forces that I need to make sure the Mat Foundation is adequate for. I am running Ram Concept thru Ram SS so I don't have to manually enter in all of the loading information into Concept. How can I do this?

Thanks,

  • Loadings from dynamic load cases in RAM Frame are never imported into RAM Concept. This limitation is noted on the web page below:

To do process the dynamic results correctly, the reactions from each modal response would need to be imported into Concept and Concept would need to combine those modal effects to determine the design forces and moments. Unfortunately, RAM Concept is not current set up to combine modal responses.

Manually defining the reactions as applied loads is an option. Note that the sign of the reaction is lost when the modal results are combined. RAM SS has an option to determine a sign from the predominant mode. However, you may find that those signs do not capture the overturning effect, especially in cases where torsional modes are significant.

Some users have created equivalent static seismic load cases by calculating equivalent diaphragm forces by subtracting the Building Story Shear at a given level from the shear reported in the adjacent level below and used those reactions in RAM Concept.
