One of the engineering groups I support recently obtained a license for STAAD.Pro 2007. I am preparing it for deployment within our corporate network. We have a deployed SELECTserver installation that handles all of our other Bentley licenses (MicroStation, GeoPak, ProjectWise, Bentley Structural, etc.) The license for STAAD.Pro has been delivered to the appropriate Bentley site.
Does STAAD.Pro use SELECTserver like other Bentley products? I see "Bentley IEG License Service" listed as a prerequisite. Is that a client-side install or a server-side install? How does this other license service impact the Site Activation Codes? Thanks for the advice.
Some of the information like length and force units affecting the various types of input is in a file called staadpro20070.ini located in the C:\windows folder
Some other information, like the Most Recently Used file list, and license related information is stored in the registry
One more question, I think. Does anyone know where the STAAD.Pro Configuration information is saved?
When you open STAAD.Pro 2007, there is a Configuration link under Project Tasks on the left and also under the File menu. I have not been able to figure out where those settings are saved. A file? The registry?
In case we need to redirect something like the Working Directory, I'd like to be sure I know where it gets saved and if we need to enable permissions somewhere for people to make any necessary changes..
Thank you.
I don't think it would do any harm to run it twice.
Personally I do very much like the Bentley license - so far. As with all Internet stuff the real problems start when things are not working anymore.
Thanks.
The notes for the IEG License Service say it should only be installed once. Would it be "bad" if that executable ran again?
I think STAAD.Pro is the only product we have now using this service. But just in case someone requests something else that uses it, I just like to look ahead to see what problems we might run into.
As far as I know the Bentley IEG License Service is on the client side, there is nothing you have to do additionally on the server.
There is one difference in licensing between STAAD and the other products. STAAD licenses are used as checked out licenses, that means that if someone uses the license, nobody else can use the product at the same time.
