precast building 3D model idealization

Hello Anyone,

Can we use Staadpro to model and design precast buildings systems such as

    1) load bearing sandwich panels with hollow core slabs

    2) double wall with filigree slabs

how can we model this type of structural system?

Hope someone can give any idea. thank you in advance

Ronnie

  • Yes you can use STAAD.Pro to model precast buildings.

You can model sandwich panels/filigree slabs using plate elements. However first you need to find out an equivalent thickness of the plate that adequately represents the stiffness of the sandwich panels/filigree slabs. For example one way would be to find out the moment of inertia of the panel/filigree slab of unit width and equate that to the moment of inertia of a solid plate element of the same width and thereby find out the equivalent thickness. Once that is established, you may model plates with the calculated thickness. You may use your own material if required to assign E and density values to these plates. Ensure that plate mesh for slabs/walls are such that nodes match along the common edges where you want load transfer to happen. Beam/plate releases can be used as required to simulate the connections.
