Rotation of Angle Members

I have a couple of questions concerning the rotation of singe angle members.  Which command should I use to rotate these angle members?  "Beta Angle" or "Beta 45" (or 135 or 225 or whatever your required angle is)?  I pose this question because I would have thought the results would have been the same but they are not.  The results for "Beta Angle" actually match those of an angle member modeled along its principal axis with no rotation or "Beta 0".  I also would have thought the properties for the weld design, namely Sz, Sy, CH & CV, would have changed with this "Beta Angle" command since the member end forces are no longer being applied in the same manner to the weld.  Any thoughts?

  • I had asked this loading for wind loads on our angles frames (3d space frame), staad pro started giving some quick answer then when i grab them after sending a staad pro file. they said they have put in the development team now. I most likely have a service ticket number open.

how to apply wind pressure (load) load in flat face?
Here is my problem started, if the axis of the member do not fit the global axis direction, then you are screwed in staad. you siply can not do load transformation if you are selecting angle members. I told bentley , in fact i have not in my life time of 35 years of practice, engineers apply load in principal direction of an angle member. Staad is suppose to convert internally, and analyze internally from geometric axes properties or whatever ... God bless bentley staad pro unless they fix this problem. How staad pro can find a optimum size of angle members, i have every doubt!
