dear honorable engineers,
I am learning staad.pro on my self.please someone write to me how can I assign seismic load(both static and dynamic) in staad.pro especially through is1893.Please tell me about seismic defination. When we assign self weight, joint weight, member wt,floor wt in seismic defination, shall we again assign them in Load Case Details?or What is actual meaning?
thanks in advance
Yes, sorry I meant "Reference Load." Ok thanks, I understand now.
I assume that you wanted to say "Reference Load" instead of "Repeat Load". If that is true, then yes, if you have entered a dead load in the Mass Reference Load, then this load will be considered in the seismic load generation only. In this case, you should either create a separate Dead Load Reference Load or new Load Case with dead loads and then use it in the Load Combinations.
Hi Sye. So if I create a dead load case under Repeat Loads to use for the seismic definition, would I have to use that same dead load again in my load combination (Seismic + DL + LL)? Or is the DL Repeat Load already accounted for, so the load combination will just be seismic + LL?
Hi, I would also like to know if we need to create 2 Earthquake cases in two direction (Eg For +x with factor +1 and for -x with factor -1, similar for z) and two cases for response (rs+x and rs-x, and how to crate =/- direction for RSX) OR does the software concider it??
Secondly if we need to create +x,-x,+z,-z how to balance base shear?
