The option of saving the accelerations file used in the response spectrum command will generate a file with the extension ".acc" listing the accelerations of all the joints in the structure.
Question: Is the information provided in the ".acc" file accessible via Open.Staad? If yes, what functions are used to retrive this information? I'm aware of the posibility of creating my own VB routine that would actualy read the ".acc" file. I'm trying to see if there's a way via Open.STAAD.
Thank you.
There is no problem in reading the acc file. It is very easy to read the ext. acc file. It can be converted into a text file say notepad. Right click the file and change to notepad, thereafter one can easily read the accelerations contained in the file. I have tried this option and it has been found to work. This information, so far I recollect, is some where mentioned in forum in reply to a query made by some member.
The information is already in text format in the ".acc" file. I was hoping it's possible to retrieve information for specific joints by using OpenStaad functions.
Mr.Tibi, you are saying that the information is already available in text format but in my case what I am observing after clicking the acc file that the file has been created by an unknown programme. What does it mean, whether it is in a text format or a nontext format. Please throw some light.
The extension of the file is "acc". If you double click the file, very likely, you don't have any programs able to handle an acc file because it's not a common extension...but if in windows explorer you highlight the file and try to open it using Textpad it will open up and you'll see it's an ordinary text file. A different approach would be to change the extension of the file from "acc" to "txt" and the file will open without any problems just by double click.
Tibi,
As you are aware by now, there is no OpenSTAAD function currently available for reading the contents of the .ACC file.
