Hi there,
Just new in RAM Structural System ,
Is RAM Structural System automatically do load combinations from load cases?
Are these load combinations could be shown in the report?
Answers are highly appreciated.
Regards,
Albert
Currently the combinations used for steel, gravity members are built into the RAM Steel Beam and Column design modules directly (based on the selected design code) and there is no user control.
There is no specific report for load combinations there, but you can see them on any design report or through the View - Diagrams window.
Note, we do have plans to improve the steel modules to incorporate user-generated load combinations which could vary by building code or user preferences, but for now, that is only available in the RAM Frame, Concrete and Foundation modules.
Thank you Mr. Seth for your response.
How about in the RAM Frame Module? I know that RAM has automated lateral load generator. Are those combinations automatically sum up when designing the frame or do I need to combine those manually?(exmp. 1.2DL + 0.5LL +1.6 Wind_IBC03_1_X)
Another question Mr. Seth, Is there two-way slab in RAM SS?
Many thanks.
Indeed, within RAM Frame (and RAM Concrete and RAM Foundation), the program can be used to generate load combinations according to the selected building code, typically. Custom load combination templates can also be used. Refer to the program sub manual called “RAM Load Combination Generator.pdf” for details (access the manuals from the Start menu).
Two way slab analysis is also part of the program. In addition to the manual, there is a nice Wiki here:

Hi Seth,
Thanks again for the info. Are these load combinations(code dependent) can be view in the report?
The said link for two-way slab is very informative!
Cheers!
The Report - Load Combinations is best (I access it from the RAM Frame - Steel Standard Provisions mode usually).
