Im running STAAD Pro 2005. Is there anyway for me to check my structure against Eurcode 8 guidelines with this version of STAAD?
If not? What version of STAAD will I need to be able to do this?
Well, it does depend somewhat on the version of EC8 you require. I believe the Response spectrum per EC8 - 1996 was available STAAD.Pro 2005 (refer to p2-686 of the User Interface manual or Section 5.32.10.1.1 of the Technical Reference manual). STAAD.Pro 2006.04 also saw the addition of using a response spectrum per Eurocode 8 - 2004.
However, additional enhancements for graphically checking the structure (Earthquake mode) for the EC8 module were added in STAAD.Pro V8i (build 20.07.05). These are much more useful not just loads but also ensuring the structure meets some of the geometric, etc. conditions laid out in EC8.
As, always, we strongly recommend using the latest version of STAAD to ensure you have the most update enhancements and fixes, which is currently V8i (SELECTseries 2), or build 20.07.07
