I am facing a problem in the attribution of BEta angle.
This property disappears when i am restarting the program and reopening the STD file.
Is there any solution for keeping it ?

here is my model.

It is very strange as it is giving very different results for deflections with same seismic conditions.

Regards,

Or, you may want to ask the Technical support people at STAAD through a service ticket.

Re: BETA ANGLE + SEISMIC DESIGN

OK thanks for this quick reply.
now i have another question for beta angle and seismic design.
Indeed, with configuration 1, i have only 13mm deflection in seismic design, whereas with config 2 it is coming 51mm.

Config 1

Config 2

The main difference is that the upper beams have a beta of 90deg in the second configuration.

I don't think mechanical behavior can explain this big difference in the deflection.

Do you have an idea on why i am getting so much difference between the two designs?

Thanks again

Re: BETA ANGLE + SEISMIC DESIGN

When you assign a beta angle, a command is recorded in the STAAD input file under the CONSTANTS heading. The command usually looks like

BETA 90 MEMBER ....

After you re-open the file, go into the editor and check whether the command is present.
