Risa to Staad

Our company recently went from Risa to STAAD, is there any way to import a RISA 3D file into STAAD other than the DXF feature? The dxf only imports the geometry and I would like to get the properties. I know you can go the other way, from STAAD to Risa but not sure about Risa to STAAD.

  • With STAAD, there is an open interface “OpenSTAAD” that can be used to generate files, but you would need some programming experience to set up a converter.  STAAD also imports CIS/2 files if that helps.

If you can still get into RISA, you might have luck using a copy-and-paste routine, copying things like nodes and member incidence from one application’s tables to the other.
