More information is also available on the main Bentley website at www.bentley.com/en-US/Products/STAAD.Pro/. There are also a number of useful resources such as movies and more explanatory documents in the Resources folder, www.bentley.com/en-US/Products/STAAD.Pro/More-Resources.htm.
Has anyone found weird errors with this new build? I have stumbled upon some new frustrating 'features' that have made me switch back to the previous build (and maybe even to version 2006, this seems to be a recurring issue lately).
- Adding beams by perpendicular intersection no longer works. It used to work by asking the origin node and then the destination beam, but now it creates a new beam where the origin node is indefectibly the origin (0,0,0) regardless of which node you select to begin with.
- Adding surfaces no longer works. You click on the four nodes (coplanar) and you get an error message saying that it is "Not a valid STAAD surface definition". Just try starting from scratch with a new model, four simple nodes, and try creating a simple surface out of them... I had just upgraded to the latest version because I was having lots of problems with a model that relies heavily on surfaces, only to find that I could no longer create new ones! And yes, I have been working with surfaces for a good while.
Quite frankly, there are several other issues I have spotted with this build, some of them which affect features I use on a regular basis. Could anyone point at the changelog for this version? The link given above (http://communities.bentley.com/Communities/Other_Communities/The_Bentley_Structural_Team/b/the_bentley_structural_team-blog/archive/2008/07/10/staad-pro-2007-03-releasing-soon.aspx) does not provide much insight into what has been added/fixed/etc.
I have just looked a these featuresa and cant immediatly reporoduce these problems. I sugest contacting the tech support team with the models you are using with a desciption of how you are attempting to use these functions and they will assit you and report to the development team how these functions are being used such that they do not achieve the required results.
Kind regards
Are there any other STAAD users in your office who are running 2007 Build 03? If so, can you check if these problems occur on their computers too?
What is the operating system on your computer? If it is VISTA, try running STAAD with the "Run as Administrator" option turned on, and see if these problems still occur.
In the folder
X:\spro2007\staad\examp\us
you will find a file called
ONE_WAY_LOADING.std
Open that model, and click on the load display icon. Do the loads appear on the structure?
I have tested all the features you have mentioned, and have not been able to duplicate these problems.
