I'm looking for a way to transfer Ram Elements loads to a Ram Concept model. Both have the ability to use ISM repositories, but I haven't figured out how to set a foundation level in Ram Elements in order to successfully transfer to Ram Concept.
Any ideas?
That’s an interesting problem. The ISM interface is all set up to read the physical stuff in the file, but in this case it sounds like you are trying to get the reactions out of RAM Elements and impose them on a new Ram Concept mat foundation model. This is something the Ram Structural System – Concept link does well, but isn’t really handled by the ISM interface.
The problem, as you noted, is that there is no base level or concrete mat slab in the Ram Elements file to import to Concept. What I have done in the past is to model the mat as a concrete shell in the Ram Elements file (and support that with springs). That slab is designated as Story 1 and that slab can then be imported to Ram Concept via ISM. The catch is that member reactions are not yet carried through the ISM repository, so all you will get in Ram Concept is the basic geometry of the mat.
I’ve personally been an advocate for storing base reactions in the repository so hopefully that will come with the next round of updates.
Ram Elements does not export support reactions to ISM. A colleague of mine wrote a spreadsheet to make it easier to import load data into a Ram Concept file that you might find interesting, however. communities.bentley.com/.../16105.ram-concept-tabular-input-etabs-link
Seth - is the most current ISM version cantabile of storing the base reactions?
The ISM API, and Structural Synchronizer the application, have a place for reactions, but Ram Elements is not using that interface yet.
