Are there any plans to revise STAAD so that it will be able to use the direct analysis method (DAM) on stuctures with tension-only members?
In the mean time, does anyone have a suggestion on how the direct analysis method could be simulated on structures with tension-only members. I get that I could run Pdelta with smalldelta and manually reduce the stiffness by using a lower E or using the cracked properties command. One of the problems I see is calculating tau-b. What a pain that would be to do manually. Also, if using ASD, I don't see a way to run the analysis for 1.6 times the loading then divide the results by 1.6 other than writing your own code checker.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
