Staad US Std Design Code

I have concern regarding Staad US Design Code, we had 1 license for Staad US Design Code and 2 licenses for StaadPro (see below screenshot). Do we need to buy new license for Staad US Design Code, for us to use the 2nd license of StaadPro with Staad US Design Code? Is it a sepearate license?

Thank you very much.

Mary Ann

  • Just ran into this post and noted that this was not answered. You will need to buy the license for the Indian code if you have purchased STAAD.Pro with the US Standard Design Code license.

  • So are you saying that STAAD.Pro is sold with one single national design code license? In other words, say I pick the US Std design code when I buy STAAD. Then I decide I want to run the same file but this time switch from the US code to the Indian code. Can I do that or do I have to buy the Indian code even though I'm only running one code check at a time?

  • As a follow-up to Kris' post, a license of STAAD.Pro is always sold with a design code license. Consequently, if one of your STAAD.Pro licenses lacks an accompanying design code, then either a design code license failed to return the last time it was used on a workstation or a design code license was not included with your purchase of STAAD.Pro like it should have been. In either case, please create a service ticket with our Technical Support Group so that the issue can be investigated further.

  • Mary Ann,

Let us say that you wish to run STAAD.Pro from 2 computers – computer A and computer B.

Let us also assume that you first start STAAD.Pro on computer A. At that time, STAAD.Pro is not running on computer B. On the opening screen of STAAD.Pro, let us say that you switch on the check box for license for the US design code. That license will be fetched from the server to computer A. So, one license for STAAD.Pro, and one license for the US design code are now taken by computer A. That leaves one license for STAAD.Pro on the server.

While STAAD is running on computer A, another person starts STAAD.Pro on computer B. So, the second license of STAAD will be removed from the server and brought into computer B. Since the only available license for the US code is being used on computer A, there will be no available licenses for that code for computer B. If you intend to analyze a model in which you are not doing any US code based steel or concrete design, you can keep running the program on computer B. In other words, the second instance of STAAD can be run (on computer B) as long as no US code based design is done. Unless you terminate the STAAD run on computer A, the US code license won’t be returned to the server.

    To summarize,

if you want the US code to be available simultaneously on 2 machines, you will need 2 licenses for the code. With only one license for the code, the second STAAD license will be able to solve only models in which no code based operations are done.
