I have set up a model in RAM. It is A steel frame sat on an RC base.
I have run the data check and there are no errors or warnings.
I have run the steel beam design and it has given me section sizes.
However, every time I try to run the steel column design, the program
crashes.
I have ended up splitting the model between the Steel and RC and analyzing
and designing separately, but should I have to do this?
I have logged a service ticket and sent the model in for review. However, before I did this, I managed to isolate the problem somewhat.
I changed the concrete stub of column number 1 to steel. At this point I had to change one bay to a one way spanning slab, but it did at lest allow the model to run.
All of the other stubs at ground floor level hve remained as RC and there are no problems with this.
So that kind of tallies with your third guess...
I am waiting for Bentley to review the model to see if they can determine what the problem is.
