Hellow all,
I have been trying to install Bentley Structural Synchronizer on my computer (Windows 7 x64) to exchange files from STAAD.Pro v8i SS3 QAR with other programs such as Revit and ProSteel.
However Installation always fails when the Structural Catalog is about to install:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
In the Computer Management Console I see the following log:
"Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Bentley SPC Server v8i SS1. Product Version: 8.11.8.23. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Bentley Systems, Inc.. Installation success or error status: 1603."
Any help will be greatly appreciated!! All other products work fine....
A brand new version of the Synchronizer, along with SPC is due out this week. It will be Structural Synchronizer Select Series 4.
Short of that, we had a case last week with a 1603 error and found that a later version of Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition was already installed. One possible workaround is to uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 and then reinstall Structural Synchronizer in that case.
I have tried all versions of the Structural Synchronizer, including the latest Beta of SS4. They all fail to install the Bentley Structural Catalog with error 1603.
I have tried your suggestion, removing SQL Server Compact, but that didn't help either... Any other suggestions?
A colleague of mine a little more versed in installation issues, wrote a batch file that we can try...
ask the user to download the following batch file to install Structural Synchronizer another way:
ftp.bentley.nl/.../InstallISM.bat
To use it, drag and drop the Structural Synchronizer installer icon (i.e. ssync08110911en.exe) onto the InstallISM.bat icon. The batch file may still attempt to install Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition, but when it fails, it will continue installing the remaining components instead of stopping.
Note, this link is not permanent, if you click the link and the file is gone, we can repost it.
Thanks a lot... I'll give it a try and let you know. Btw: i have had similar problems in the past with STAAD.Pro, which I found to be caused by missing ownership properties in several keys of the Windows Installer Registry. If this does not work I'll provide more info...
You should make sure you are logged in as the Administrator when you install these things too, I took that for granted. Beyond the log in, you can right click on the installer and pick "Run as Administrator".
