Hi,
The Design Summary report in RAM Steel Beam shows the moment capacity Mn of steel only even if the beam is designed as a composite section. Why is that? Ideally, phi*Mn of the composite section should be shown for a composite beam and phi*Mn of steel only for a non-composite section. I hope Bentley will incorporate this in the future versions of the software.
Regards,
PS
I tested a sample model, using AISC 360-05 LRFD, and the reported Mn values in the beam summary are equal to the composite Mn capacity values. You might want to double check your numbers or log a service ticket if your model really has such a problem. Remember, the Mn values in the summary report are NOT adjusted by phi or Omega.
Seth, I double checked the numbers. See attached design summary file. For eg. the moment capacity Mn shown for beam # 161 (W21x44 with 42 studs) is shown as 397.5 kip-ft which is actually the moment capacity of the steel section only.
The individual beam design result for beam # 161 shows the moment capacity of the composite section. See attached.
I would like to test that file with the latest release to see if it's something we have already addressed (I notice you are using 14.03 and the latest is 14.05). If you use the "Secure file upload" option on the right, you can upload the file and I can grab it (no fear, it's not a public drop box).
Ok. I have uploaded the RAM file using the "Secure file upload" option.
