Hello
We have to determine the Response Factor for a composite floor.
I would like to model in the composite floor and analyse using Staad Pro to determine the Modal Mass (M) so that I can use it in the equations for rms acceleration to determine the RF. Getting the maximum Kinetic Energy (KEn ) for the modes would do as the reference gives M=KEn/(2 Pi2 f02))
My reference is SCI Publication P354 "Design of Floors for Vibration: A new Approach."
I think it can be done with StaadPRO but I find the terminology confusing and the commands obscure.
Is there a blow by blow account of how to do it?
Nick
There had been one implemented based on the AISC design gide 11. But we do not have aything that directly conforms to P354. Obviously floors subjected to time hsitory loads can be straight analysed in STAAD.Pro using the standard theory of structural dynamics. In case you are interested to have an answer more in lines to P354 - I would suggest raising a service ticket where the analysts can spend time and come up with an answer.

Thanks I am not strong on dynamic analysis and was hoping someone could point me in the direction of an answer.
