SmartPlant 3D- STAAD.Pro interface through CIS/2 translator

Hi!

I am trying to import SmartPlant 3D Structural model to STAAD.Pro through CIS/2 translator. I am able to import steel sections of Indian Section library. But I am unable to import Rectangular Section (Prismatic member not available in STAAD Section database) of concrete.

Will any one help me to import Prismatic rectangular section(which is not available in Section Database) in STAAD through CIS/2.

Here I added rectangular section (name and property) in Indiian Section Database (in any of table available Indian Rolled steel library) either through "Modify Section Database" command or directly editing IndianSection.mdb, i am able to able to import rectangular section as well with concrete as its property. But this is not the way to do it. If this is the only option then I need to add new table In IndianSection.mdb for which I need the way to do it.

I will appreciate your help or experience in this regard.

  • CIS/2 in inherently a steel data transfer file. I tested a stp file created from another application and populated with some Concrete rectangular columns, however, and confirmed that those sections do import into STAAD.pro 20.07.09.31. I saw a units conversion issue in my test, but that could have been user error.  The first thing to do is confirm the concrete section data is in the .stp file created by SmartPlant (you can scan the text, or use a generic viewer like the NIST VRML Translator with Cosmo Viewer).
