Is it possible to merge two or more files into one model? This issue is not getting the structures into one file but once they are combined the member references from the imported (copy and paste) structure take on the member reference of the target file. Any thoughts?
Hello
I have attached a document which may be of some help to you .
I used to create models this way earlier - for a building, I would create each floor in separate models, giving separate node and beam nos., assign loads, etc. Then, finally, I would combine them all into one single space model (copy and paste) and connect the supports with members for column. Where you have any issues, you can open the input files for direct copy paste of data
Hope that helps,
Arunkumar
The key to merging is that there should be no overlap in numbering of the entities like nodes, beam plates etc. If there are, then renumbering is required as outlined in the Word document that Shayan posted. Also one needs to manually copy and paste the data from one file to another using the STAAD editor and ensure that the contents are pasted at the appropriate locations. Copy paste using GUI is not recommended to avoid problems that MichaelK517 mentioned in his original post.
is there any video link which shows this .....processs... will be more effective
Unfortunately there isn't at this point of time. However we do have plans to create more video tutorials in future and your suggestion will definitely be considered.
