Has anyone ever done buckling analysis on staadpro before. I have tried my hands tirelessly and can't seem to get a buckling factor.
the problem: A steel section 0.15m diameter and length 12m, Take E = 205GPa. Determine the buckling load. Ans = 89.4KN.
Please do help out.
Thanks.
I have also attached the file.
In your structure, change Staad Truss to Staad Space in the first line of input file. You have broken the 12.0 m length into 5 pieces/members of 2.4 meter each. Make all the five pieces into one member. You will get the desired result.

Thanks sureshprsharma.. it worked and when I broke it into elements it worked still.. but instead of one buckling factor for three modes I got two buckling factors for four modes.. Thank you very much..
Also, I will like you to give hint on how to use the linear springs.. My aim is to use them to model soil stiffness for this 12m pile..
Hi,
You can go through section 5.27.4 of Technical Reference manual for more details about multilinear spring. Go to Help > Contents for the Technical Reference manual.
Thanks Suro.
I have gone to section 5.27.4 of the technical reference manual and I am still unable to solve my problem
with multilinear springs. I have attached my model here, perhaps you can look at it and tell me were
I have got it wrong.
