I'm a new STAAD PRO user, I have modeled a 3 floors beam structure, on the top floor of this structure there is a filter house. The structure is loaded by some

Re: STAAD PRO: How to model an equipment with a single node in the CoG and transfer loads to other nodes

Hi Clover,

Yes, both ways are possible in STAAD.Pro. In the first approach you'll probably use master-slave spec. which can be applied per GUI (per General-Spec-Node Specification dialogue).

Regards,

Is it possilbe to set the master/slave nodes from the user interface instead of the command file?

I have no plates, I have only the beam structure. I have to perform a static analysis to check the beams for stress and deflection.

My idea is:

1) link the node placed in the CoG of the filter house with the nodes at the ends of the beams where the filter house lay on.

2) put on the node placed in the CoG of the filter house the Mg force due to the mass of the Filter house and the force due to the product (mass of the filter house * acceleration due to the single load case).

Is it possible?

Re: STAAD PRO: How to model an equipment with a single node in the CoG and transfer loads to other nodes

Hi,

To ensure the load transfer from point of application, you need to provide the proper connectivity. If the load will be applied to the single node of the floor plate - the proper meshing of the plate must be done (hewever applying nodal plate lode will cause stress concentration).

You may also refer to this topic regarding master slave specification:
