in the attached model, it has been split into several boundaries within a outer boundary (this was done as the depth is different for each boundary.

while using Parametric mesh and creating the adjacent boundary mesh, it was found that

Re: Parametric meshing - junction of two boundaries of the two model meshing

Thanks Modestas, i have completed the meshing and have a query now kindly find my new topic in the attached url

does this create any problem in analysis or it cant be done in staad?

( i want the top surface of the plates to be flat, is it possible)

and if i want to live load on it then, what is the procedure?

Re: Parametric meshing - junction of two boundaries of the two model meshing

The last model which you attached 'total section DL7.std' is not meshed well as there are many improperly connected plates, so I was working with your model 'total section DL5.std'.

The shape which you are trying to mesh is quite complicated, so I would suggest creating meshes for smaller regions. I have attached a model, where I created Mesh Models 7, 8 and 9.

When I was creating these regions, I selected each point at the boundary of the region. I also selected these options:

Such options will let you to adjust the divisions for each edge in the region. At first, the correct mesh may not be generated. In such case, you have to manually modify longer edges so that it would be divided into more pieces:

Please note that not all division values may be accepted, so if one value gives any error, try to use another one.

Also note that two adjacent edges from different regions should have same division number.

In the same way, all other regions can be meshed. This requires a bit efforts as almost each edge division should be reviewed, but as you a trying to mesh quite a complex shape, this would be one possible workflow. Any better suggestion would be most welcomed from other members of this community.

Regards,

When creating a mesh region, try to uncheck the box "Use nodes and beams that occur on or inside the outer boundary as additional density points and lines?". Once this is done, mesh should be created as you are expecting.
