The design loads for joists with tapered loads such as for snow drifts is not being computed correctly. See the attached for example. In the example the design dead load is 116.0, the design live load is 219.3 and the total load is shown as 2239.3?? This leads to the program not being able to find a suitable joist.
The moments and shears shown appear to be correct.
Has anyone else seen this? I did not see this in previous versions. I also opened the model for a project I did earlier in the year and the joists with drift loads radically changed.
Please send us your model for review of the reported total load.
I see that the maximum total uniform load at any location is 666.9 plf, which is greater than 550 plf. The program will not be able to design a joist as a result. See frequently asked question, "Why doesn’t the program select a K series joist when the equivalent uniform loads are less than the allowable?" on the following web page for more information on this: http://communities.bentley.com/products/structural/structural_analysis___design/w/structural_analysis_and_design__wiki/2054.aspx
