STAAD PRO PUSHOVER ANALYSIS

Please note that STAAD force me to change all my bracing to Pipe & then some of these to Wide flange. It keep giving error message beam by beam & force me to change member type to Wide Flange & then I got the final fatal error. Here is the file. I did not know how to attach it as a file

Sorry I totally missed your reply. Thank you very much for taking time to write.

From Your conversation with Kris, extracted and given below, you seem to have resolved the problem I am concerned with. Where did you have to look at for the mass participation ratios? :

Kris: "For the most recent model you attached, the lowest mode with a significant participation along X is the fourth.So, set the MODE SELECT command to 4. Revised model is attached."

Hassan: "So Mode 22 has substantial value in X but Mode 4 does not. However when I run the pushover for model that you revised it works with Mode 4 & gives me participation as follow."

Kris: "The frequencies and modes are then calculated for a mass matrix based on the above. You can find those reported in the ANL file for the model that I uploaded in my earlier post. Those values look like this."

Hassan: "Thanks Kris, I did put the SW in X,Y & Z direction but forgot about the 2nd set of loading. Yes I get Mode 4 & All OK. So for any structure I first need to ensure I resolve the issue of section sizes (i.e. Wide flange etc), Then do a modal analysis. Ensure I capture the correct mode in my Pushover analysis."

You can find mass participation in the output list. You can see them at the bottom of STAAD output.

However this not necessary solved my problem if I recall correctly. As I had other issue with STAAD pushover at the same time.

I have a similar problem. When I ran the analysis it stops giving me the error of the participation mass. When I look at the output file the mass participation factors are all 0. How can I find these participation factors?

I suggest you create a new post and attach your model with the question. In the meanwhile, make sure the weights for the eigensolution are specified in all global directions. Also, if there are instabilities which are leading to loads not being able to reach the supports, make sure those problems are first addressed for a static analysis before you proceed to do a frequency analysis.
