Merging two staad files

To merge two files, I follow the Bentley community procedure.  But it is not working.  Select All (from select menu) procedure, then copy (from edit menu) does not work.  It says multiple entries cannot be copied. It seams that beams, nodes, plates etc do not work...  Any explanation.  I have a staad file with nodes, beams and plates,  this file to be merged with a similar second  file. I have no idea how they say it works...  May be beams only will work. or plate only will work!!

  • 1. Open one of the STAAD files.

    2. Go to the menu Geometry\ Run Structure Wizard.

    3. Perform the operation shown in the adjacent figure..

    4. The above operation will prompt you to choose the second STAAD file. Make sure that the length units are what you want. To reset the units, you can go to the menu File\Select Units.

    5. Go to the menu File\Merge the Model with STAAD.Pro Model.

    6. You will be prompted to specify the X, Y and Z distances by which to move the structure of the second file before it gets copied to the first structure. Specify those values or you may use the “Reference Point” option and click on OK.

Using the above method, only the geometry would be extracted. The sectional properties, support conditions, etc., will not be copied.

To merge the remaining attributes, you could copy the information (commands) from the STAAD editor of the second file and paste it in the editor of the first model.
