Steel Composite Design for Positive Moment

Question

Hi All, 
 Is it possible in STAAD Pro. to design a steel composite beam with positive moment as what may happen on continuous span? I got a warning when checking a beam that my beam has positive moment which have not designed for. 
 Is there any solution for this?

As of now, STAAD.Pro can handle positive moments in the design of composite beams for code check as per the AISC 9th edition code only ( CODE AISC ). For that code, if the critical section is at a location that has the concrete in tension, it designs the section as a non composite section. For the LRFD 3rd edition implementation ( CODE LRFD ), the software ignores the positive moments while carrying out the composite beam design and prints a warning message, as you mentioned.

Yes composite design will be implemented for the newer version of the AISC code and it would design the sections as non-composite for positive moments. For the AISC 9th edition check, the design is carried out for positive ( non-composite ) and negative moments (composite ) and the one which yields higher utilization ratio is reported as critical.
