Dear Staad expert,
I need to model a Steel Composite Column in STAAD Pro (an H beam encased with reinforced concrete or HSS filled with concrete), is this possible or not? I have searched the help file but did not found anything talk about it.
Actually I just want to include the stiffness of this composite column in my Analysis mode. Please shed some light on this.
Please, anyone clarify or give some clues for this issue..?
Yes, you should be able to have STAAD analyze a structure which contains a steel composite column that you describe. The data required is described in a similar topic (in the Q&A # 26) at the following link
communities.bentley.com/.../2839.staad-pro-general-faq.aspx
However, there is presently no facility in STAAD to perform a steel/concrete design for concrete filled tubes.
In other words, you can do the analysis, but not the steel/concrete design.
Can you show me how do you do the Steel Composite Column? thanks.
