Hi all,
I have a problem in using member offset command in staad.pro
I have a case where one beam is supported above another beam.
So i modelled two beams and i made one beam to move little bit high using the member offset command.
when doing the analysis, the staad is giving a warning that duplicate beams detected.
how can I resolve this warning.
actually two beams are not at same level.I used the offset command and moved one beam little bit high.
Give me your opinions
Actually, since you offset the second beam from the first nodes as the first one, then you have two colinear beams as far as the model is concerned as both beams have the same start and end nodes.
Is the warning preventing your from analysing your model properly? Surely it should be only for information.
You may want to create "duplicate" nodes offset at c/c of the two beams depths so that two beams are modelled at separate node connections. The two new members connecting the two sets of duplicate nodes can be assigned as Member Rigid and design can be avoided for the same.

It appears that they are beam members along the same direction. Create two beam members with their own set of end nodes and connect them by Master-Slave command.
