Hi everyone!
I am analysing a Channel section according to Eurocode 3 and I am finding it hard to understand how Staad calculates the critical Moment (Mcr)
The critical moment I get from the program is different from the one I get from "Annex F of DD ENV 1993-1-1"
Can you please explain what is the expression used?
Thanks a lot!
Here is an excerpt from the International Design Codes manual which explains how Mcr is calculated for channels in STAAD.Pro:
"In cases where Annex F does not provide an adequate method to evaluate Mcr, such as for Channel sections, the program will resort to the method as per Cl.4.3.6 of BS 5950-1:2000 to calculate the lateral torsional buckling resistance moment (Mb,Rd) for the member."

Thanks Modestas!
Do you think you could send me that expression? I don't have access to that BS code...
