RAM SS-Option to turn off transverse beams bracing the bottom flange of support member

Similar to RAMS beam, I'd like an option to globally or individually turn off the bottom flange bracing of beams framing into a support member in the Gravity module.  This is somewhat taken care of in the lateral frame module, where you can assign unbraced lengths.

  • What is the purpose for this? What are the conditions for which you would want to turn that off?

  • A few items that may be rare in occurrence:

    1. A large cantilever with the back span having negative moment that would exceed its flexural capacity for being unbraced the entire length.  Ie. Say a W36 cantilevered beam and transverse beams of W10's size.  I'd like to size the beam in the module rather than exporting design to Ramsbeam.   If i so choose to add bottom flange bracing with kickers or deeper beams i can toggle the bottom chord bracing.

    2.  For wind uplift checks of non-composite roofs, I've placed negative roof loads on the roof to check beams in high windzone areas- those with transvers beams framing into them require exporting to Ramsbeam to determine whether bottom chord bracing is required.

    3.  Ram Frame module- saving time for not having to assign unbraced lengths for lateral beams that have small beams framing into them that will not be providing bottom chord bracing.
