MASONRY

Dear Staff

Greetings

Please I suggest to add MASONRY structures analysis & design in the next version of STAAD . Thanks

  • Interesting, there is a strong case for including masonry panels as described in the IS1893 code as URM infills in a concrete frame. basically providing a diagonal compression resistance to lateral seismic loading. Why are you looking for a masonry panel to behave like a wide column? Perhaps add a sample image of the construction you are looking for.

  • it  will be great ,in some model i would like to model block wall to act as wide column instead of concrete wall

  • US TMS 402 design CODES Brick, block, both, with void/filled cavities. It's already done in RE, but there is a lot of problems if you want to export physical/ analytical STAAD model to RAM Elements. Regardless there is a direct link from STAAD to RE, but not opposite. Carlos. you can contact me and I can explain it in more details.

  • Many thanks for the posting. Perhaps you could expand a little on the requirement.  Are you looking for defining them for loading a steel or concrete frame or as the primary structural system such as for a house? What type of masonry constructions are you looking for? Brick, block, both, with void/filled cavities. Also design to which design code(s).  As you can see there are lots of parts to this and as such would need a lot of planning so not something we could address in a single development iteration.
