Spring Legend for X, Y and Z for Tension/ Compression Only

Dear Sir,

Under the support head spring tension/compression only, all the support acts in the global directions. But, when the spring system is assigned, for the X & Z it is different from the Y direction.

Please correct the notation or the display of the spring support in X & Z.

  • Sir,

As You can see in the image attached, all the support acts in global positive direction. Only the support Y Vector is labeled correctly, for the support X & Z they are acting in the opposite direction. Please note in the representation of support all Y X & Z shall look alike.

The common mistake generally people do, they apply Tension/Compression only support based on the representation not on the basis of definition.

  • Thank you for posting your suggestion. However I am not 2=100% clear what your suggestion is? Are you suggesting a specific icon for supports which are defined with compression/tension only on a support which has a spring DOF?

    e.g.

1 2 FIXED BUT FX FY KFY 100

    SPRING COMPRESSION

    2 KFY

    ...

If so, what sort of icon are you suggestion? Perhaps you could add a sketch.
