Future Consideration

For now the option of including the connection information using the Connection Tag is available. The connection tag definition can be associated with a RAM Connection template.

STAAD,RAM Coneection and ISM

I think the interoperability between STAAD and ram connection is very useful and That it reduces the time of the design greatly.
What I would like to suggest is that the users be able to export the connection data and 3D details from the connection design workflow to the ISM as well. I know that usesrs can specify connection tags in staad and export it to ism but I think if the data available in the connection design workflow can make it as well to the ism it will be very  helpful. Or maybe if those connections data can make it to the drawings of the steel autodrafter then it would also add value to those drawings.

Kind Regrads.

  • It's a drawback in RAM Connection software. One cannot to get fully assembled connection detailed in one operation. Imagine, you have 2-sided moment FP moment connection and other kind of shear connection. In order to get full connection drawing you need to save 4 separate connection drawings (two moments and two shear from each side). Then you need to combined them in one. Having more than a few connections in the project lead to tedious time consuming task.

  • thank you mr.Carlos for your reply. I will have a look into the connection tag and try to understand its capabilities better.

  • Great suggestion. I would just point you to one capability that may help you that was implemented recently. You should be aware that the program supports a concept of 'Connection Tags' these are included in the ISM repository. This provides the ability to provide some basic checks, and also in the latest release allows the tag to be associated with a full connection so whilst the ISM model might not include the full details, it can be decorated with the tag to show what connection should be detailed in the detailing application such as ProStructures.
