STAAD User Tool: Assign DJ Parameter to Physical Member

User Tools: Assign DJ Parameter to Physical Member

Created by: Surojit Ghosh

This is an excel based OpenSTAAD macro which can assign design parameter DJ1 and DJ2 to physical members present in a STAAD model. If you open a STAAD model with physical member and run this excel macro, then depending on the inputs, DJ1 and DJ2 parameters will be assigned to the physical members.

This User Tool can assign DJ parameter to –

  • All or selected Physical Member
  • New or existing design brief

  1. You need MS Excel to open and run this macro.
  2. This macro is supported only in STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition V22 or higher version. It is locked for all other STAAD.Pro versions.
  3. Before using this user tool, check whether a single STAAD model is opened or not. If multiple STAAD files are opened, then DJ parameter will be assigned to the first instance of STAAD.Pro model. If no STAAD model is opened, then process terminates with error message.
  4. This user tool works only with Physical member. If no physical member is present in the model, then it is not possible to assign any parameter, and process terminates with warning.

How to Use:

          Step 1: Open a STAAD.Pro model first.

Step 2: Open the Assign DJ Parameter_v1.0.xlsm file (macro enabled excel file).  If prompted, enable the macro, and enable the content.

Step 3: In the user tool interrace, first provide the inputs in the Input Block, then click on the Assign DJ Parameter tab to assign DJ1 and DJ2 parameter to the physical members present in the STAAD Model.

I have included several warning messages to inform the user about any possible incorrect input values. Check the warning and accordingly specify input values or modify STAAD model.

Note that, if any incorrect inputs are provided, then the assignment process will be incorrect.
