BIM Modelling with Microstran, STAAD Foundation Advanced, and ISM

This video gives a quick tour of how structural information can be transferred to a BIM model (in this case an i-Model) using structural analysis and design applications and the Integrated Structural Modelling (ISM) framework. The structural products utilized are Microstran and STAAD Foundation Advanced. The interoperability between the two applications, as well as i-Model creation, is facilitated through ISM interoperability. In the scenario shown in the video, a hydrotreater facility was modeled in ProStructures, and ISM interoperability was used to create a Microstran model for evaluation of the steel framework of the exhaust support structure. Once complete, STAAD Foundation Advanced was used to size footings, including reinforcing. The ISM model was updated with the changes made in each application and an updated i-Model was produced.
