1. When I run the beam design in EC2:2004 the design aborts with the following message:

Member 10: Axial force too large. Beam design not
appropriate.

Member 10: Failed tension calculations for hogging at 0.727 m. Design not possible...

 What can I do to avoid this message and have the program design the member?

When the beam members are subjected to axial forces the EC2:2004 implementation checks it according to clause 4.3.1.2(6) of DD ENV 1992-1-1 : 1991, which states the following:

"In the analysis of a cross-section which has to resist bending and only a small longitudinal force, the effect of
the longitudinal compressive force may be ignored if it does not exceed 0.08fck times the cross-sectional area".

This clause is checked by the implementation when any one of the analytical members forming the particular
physical member is subjected to compressive axial forces. The message is displayed when the axial force exceeds the limit set by the code.
