If you import an ISM repository into Revit without setting up the mapping you may not get the floor types you want in your Revit model.
When you get to floor mapping you will already have gone through the Material and Shape mapping which are covered in other articles.
You can see from the Red X’s that none of the floor types are mapped.
The floor type that is selected is a 10 ½” concrete slab. You can see that in the Revit Type drop down below there isn’t a 10 ½” floor type available. 6” Concrete is the closest type in the list, so we’ll select that and click the New Type button.
Change the name for the new type to match your new floor type. Click Duplicate.
Select Layer Thickness and change the slab thickness. Click OK. Repeat the previous steps for any other concrete floor types.
Now we will map a roof deck floor type. The 3” deck type is selected in the table to the left. We only have a 1 ½” deck type in the drop down. Select the 1 ½” Metal Roof Deck and click New Type.
Change the roof deck name and click Duplicate.
From the Metal Deck Profile drop down select the 3” Roof deck.
The layer thickness cannot be edited in the dialog and will have to be changed in the deck type properties once the model has been imported into Revit.
The next roof deck type is a 1 ½” deck type and that can just be selected from the table to map it.
Now we will map the composite deck listed in the table. Select a similar composite floor type from the Revit Type drop down, click the New Type button. Just like we did previously change the floor type name and click the duplicate button.
In the Edit Revit Type Parameters dialog check to see that the correct metal deck profile is selected that the Layer Thickness is correct. (Fill over deck + Deck depth.)
Once all of the floor types are mapped to Revit floor types click the Next button and proceed with the import operation.
The floor type mapping can be much faster if you have the floor types you are going to use in the project already created in the Revit model. You can just select the correct type from the drop down for each floor type that needs mapping.
