Background
Importing an ISM repository requires some mapping of material before the model finishes importing. When you use the ISM “New From Repository” command and clicked the Update button in Structural Synchronizer, the repository starts to import into Revit. A series of mapping dialogs open to set the mapping of material, shapes and surface members. We are going to take a look at the material mapping.
Material Mapping Importing into Revit TN
When the Material Import Mappings dialog opens the red X’s next to each of the material types indicates they are not mapped. You can click the Match All button and the material will be matched to the ISM materials.
If you want to map the material to a Revit type material, select the material in the left pane and then select a material type from the drop down in the right pane.
Repeat the process for each material type.
After all of the material is mapped click the Next button. The next mapping dialog that opens is the Column/Framing Section Import Mappings. That will be covered in a separate article.
