    RAM Structural System Crash During Program Launch

      Product(s): RAM Structural System
      Version(s): 14.07.00 and later
      Environment:  N/A
      Area:  Installation
      Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group

    Problem Description

    When launching the program, the program crashes with an error message similar to the one below or nothing appears to happen.

    In v15.02.00, the problem may prevent RAM Manager from launching and no error message is displayed.

    Solution

    This issue should not occur in v15.05.00 or after.

    In previous versions, the problem can be resolved by adding lines to the RAMIS.ini file to disable the RSS Feed in RAM Manager. The RAMIS.ini file can be found at the path below and can be edited in Notepad or another word processing program. The ProgramData folder is a hidden folder. Make sure that hidden folders are displayed or included in the search before attempting to find the file.

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Engineering\RAM Structural System

    After opening the file, add the lines in bold below and then save the file. These location of the lines is not very important. Adding the lines after the Tip section as shown below is recommended.

    [Tip]
    TimeStamp=Mon Apr 05 14:00:16 2010
    StartUp=1
    FilePos=612
    [Testing]
    DisableRSSFeed=1

    The RSS Feed will no longer appear in RAM Manager. However, the program should launch without crashing.
