AISC 341 Panel Zone Shear Capacity of SMF and IMF

      Applies To
      Product: RAM Connection
    First Affected Version:
      Found in Version: 11.00.00.177
    Released in Version:
      Area:  Design
      Issue #: 643244

    Problem Description

ACI 341 requires a phi factor (LRFD) of 1.0 or a lambda factor (ASD) of 1.5 for the panel zone shear check. AISC 360 requires a phi factor of 0.9 and a lambda factor of 1.67. For joints designed for seismic provisions and designated as IMF or SMF, RAM Connection incorrectly applies both the 1.0 and 0.9 factors (LRFD) or both the 1/1.5 and 1/1.67 factors (ASD) when only 1.0 and 1/1.5 should be used. The calculated shear capacity was lower than the actual capacity.

    Solution

    Fixed in Version 11.00.01.208.
