Release Date: July 31, 2017
Version: RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 3
Version Number: 06.03.00.06
Download Instructions
Current and past RAM Concept releases can be downloaded from Bentley Cloud Services at: http://connect.bentley.com
After signing into CONNECTION Center, select Software Downloads under My Support, towards the bottom of the page. Once on the Software Fulfillment page, RAM Concept installers can be located by performing a search on "RAM Concept", or by selecting Brand -> RAM.
Note: Although there are multiple listings for RAM Concept (RAM Concept, RAM Concept Post Tension Module, etc.), each of these takes the user to the same list of installers, as all features of RAM Concept require only one installation.
Special Notices
This release no longer provides a x86 version of RAM Concept. From this release forward, RAM Concept will be available only as a 64-bit application.
The installation of RAM Concept will automatically uninstall previous CONNECT Edition versions (6.0.0 through 6.2.0). V8i releases (version 5.2.0 and earlier) will not be automatically uninstalled and can remain side-by-side with RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 3.
If using the RAM Concept integration with RAM Structural System, the x64 version of RAM Structural System must be used (as opposed to x86).
RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 3 is recommended for all projects, except those nearing final design.
New Features
RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 3 has the new features discussed below.
CONNECT Advisor – A New Tool for Locating Technical Resources
This release of RAM Concept includes CONNECT Advisor. CONNECT Advisor is a desktop application for interacting with different types of technical content on Bentley software, thereby eliminating the need to search various sources individually. Users can search for articles, whitepapers, videos, Bentley Learn courses, release notes, and more all in one location. CONNECT Advisor can be accessed under the Bentley Cloud Services menu and requires CONNECTION Client to be running. CONNECTION Client can be located and launched from the Windows start menu. For more information on CONNECTION Client, refer to Chapter 17 of the RAM Concept technical manual.
Notifications of New Releases
Notifications will now be delivered when a new version of RAM Concept is available for download. These notifications are delivered through CONNECTION Client. This component must be running to receive these notifications. CONNECTION Client can be located and launched from the Windows start menu. For more information on CONNECTION Client, refer to Chapter 17 of the RAM Concept technical manual.
Export of Reinforcing to Revit Structure
Reinforcing designed in RAM Concept can now be exported to Revit Structure for BIM and drawing production. This requires Bentley’s Structural Synchronizer and the ISM Revit Plugin. A detailed wiki explaining how to create slab reinforcing drawings in Revit using a RAM Concept model is available here.
Reinforcing Exported to ISM Now Tagged as Top/Bottom and Lat/Long
Reinforcing written to an ISM file from RAM Concept is now assigned two custom properties: Rebar Slab Face (top or bottom) and Rebar Span Direction (Latitude or Longitude). This allows the bars to be separated more easily when interoperating.
Warning Delivered if Vertical Gap Exists between Slab Elements
When modeling two different slab polygons that share an edge but are separated vertically by a gap, the slabs are linked together and act as a continuous slab. However, the user may intend for the two slabs to act independently of one another, which would require a separation in plan between the two edges. A warning is now delivered during the analysis that alerts the user to such conditions.
Order of Window Display when using Cascade and Tile Commands
The Cascade and Tile window operations now respect the sub-window stacking order. The Tile operation places the top sub-window in the top-left corner of the workspace, and the bottom sub-window in the bottom-right corner of the workspace
Error Corrections
RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 3 has the error corrections discussed below.
Zero Import Bars During ISM Import
When exporting a RAM Concept model to ISM, if any concentrated bars in the RAM Concept model were defined such that the resulting quantity of bars was zero (for example, the bar zone width is less than the bar spacing), the creation of the ISM file would fail.
File Compatibility Warning
RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 2 can read all previous file formats, but writes files in a format that cannot be read by previous versions.
